Power and Performance 

The 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 comes with a?turbocharged 2.7-liter, four-cylinder engine that offers 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. Three other engines are available:

• Turbodiesel 3.0-liter, six-cylinder engine: 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque 
• 5.3-liter V8 engine: 355 horsepower 383 lb-ft of torque 
• 6.2-liter V8 engine: 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque 

The standard transmission in this new Chevy truck is an eight-speed automatic, but you can opt for a 10-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with four-wheel drive as an option. 

With the 2023 Chevy Silverado 2500 and 2023 Chevy Silverado 3500, things get a bit of a boost. They both come standard with a 6.6-liter V8 engine that generates 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque. The other engine choice is a Duramax® diesel 6.6-liter V8 engine that offers 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque.

Towing and Hauling 

When properly equipped, the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 can tow up to 13,300 lbs and haul up to 2,260 lbs. With the base Chevy Silverado 2500, you’ll get a tow rating of 14,500 lbs. The diesel engine increases that to 18,500 lbs. The Chevy Silverado 3500 can tow up to 17,370 lbs with its base engine, and that goes up to 36,000 lbs with the diesel engine. The Chevy Silverado 2500 can haul up to 3,900 lbs, while the Chevy Silverado 3500 has a maximum payload of 4,572 lbs.
